Anything you do to help the environment is a bonus. It may make planning a bit harder or it can make it a lot simpler to go green - recycle, reuse and reduce the amount of consumption on the day. Eloping is one option - another is involving all your guests in your day to help make it successful. Wedding suppliers, including venues, may be quite happy to help out by using environmentally and socially responsible products, if you specify this and are prepared to pay for any extra costs associated with this.

Ways you can help our Earth:
use local suppliers where possible
use ethical suppliers use ethical suppliers where possible - fair trade and environmentally responsible
go vegetarian try a vegetarian feast - your local Buddhist organisation may be able to point you in the right direction for luscious vegetarian food or ask your reception venue if they are willing to use organic and vegetarian food
use food in season or try using food in season and organic meat if you really want meat
eco-friendly tips - use recycled paper use recycled paper for invitations, place names and thank you cards
eco friendly weddings - use group transport you may like to hire a bus to transport your guests to and from the reception venue
green weddings - green gifts instead of wedding presents, you may like your guests to make a donation to your favourite cause, or to a major purchase such as an artwork, or ask them to contribute to a green gift for you - a water tank or front loading washing machine, for example or purchase carbon credits for you - see www.climatefriendly.com or www.carbonplanet.com for details
use seasonal flowers donate flower decorations at the venue to a retirement home after the wedding and use local and seasonal flowers

use digital photography

find out if your photographer can digitally photograph your wedding
eco friendly weddings - use clothes from natural materials use wedding attire that you can all wear again, vintage clothing from a pre-loved clothing shop or enquire about gowns made from natural organic or recycled materials
